Our DIY Workshops

FAQs

Absolutely NOT! Our workshops provide instruction in a relaxed environment. Just bring your DIY attitude, a creative mind and a willingness to learn and you will create a project you will be proud of! Our friendly team of experts guide you through step by step and give you any support you may need along the way.

We absolutely try to! Our workshops are suitable from age 6 to adults. We do have options for younger children too. Under the age of 6 will need 1-1 help by an accompanied adult.

We also try to cater for those with additional needs as we firmly believe in inclusion and everyone can take part! If you would like further information with what’s involved or how we can be adapted for your need, send us an email info@thetwistedknot.co.uk.

Our workshop is wheelchair friendly and has a disabled toilet on site.

Yes we do. For smaller groups and community groups we recommend coming to our workshop based at Marshgate. For larger groups and school over 30 we provide mobile workshops and will come to you! All we need is the space and we will deliver our paint and wood skills workshop. please see the schools and groups page on the website for more information. Contact us with your requirements and we can adapt our workshops to suit you. We can even provide weekdays and evening sessions!

The length of each workshop depends on the type of workshop booked in. However the typical workshop lasts 2-3 hours.

Due to time and limited places on our workshops, we limit each person to creating one project at a time during a scheduled workshop.  Our workshops take approximately 2-3 hours. On quieter times, you may be able to do more than one but we don’t recommend it on your first visit!

All the materials needed to create your project is included in the price of the project. All you need to bring is yourself and an attitude to get creative. You will be guided through the whole process by a member of the Team.

The prices vary depending on which project you choose to make. They begin at £18 for a 30cm board and can go up to £45 for a slatted clock or a height ruler/1200x200mm sign. A complete custom design will have a £5 design fee too! You always just pay for your projects, there are no hidden costs.

Our Marshgate workshop will have set ‘Open days’ where you are welcome to drop in.. although this is always limited to space so we recommend that you book to ensure you’re not disappointed!

If it is a larger group, please contact us as a private party booking!

Ultimately, if you know when you want to come, let us know!! 😉

In the workshop we can cater for up to 30 people at a time.

Firstly, you need to contact us in order to make sure your chosen date/time is available or check on the website booking calendar.. You will then pay a £20 deposit to reserve your time slot. This will refunded on the day (please see terms and conditions).

Depending on the party type you have booked, you will receive an automated online catalogue and a booking form.

Share the catalogue with your party guests and let them have a browse at the projects and designs. 2 weeks before your party date please fill in the required booking form ands return it back to us (you will receive email prompts to do this). This means all of your projects and designs will be ready and waiting ahead of your workshop.

Yes please. Project selection and customisation information for your project is required at the time of booking on our on-line registration form. Please be sure to double-check your spelling and information to ensure your project stencil and materials will be ready for you at the start of your workshop. We will customised any stencils ahead of time and add any personalisations required, for any designs or quotes you cannot see please get in touch and  we will happily help bring you ideas to life.

If you’re attending a party, you will need to select your designs via a private link a week before the event.

No you don’t, all we need before you arrive is your project and design choice The rest is for you to decide here in the workshop. We have a very wide selection of stains, colours and finishes to choose from, all materials are supplied.

We provide aprons for the session, however we do recommend wearing something you wouldn’t mind getting paint on just in case :-), The workshop can get very busy and messy. That’s the idea of the workshop. Our paints are water based however can stain if not removed straight away with a damp cloth.

We also recommend that long hair is tied up and have a think about footwear (you don’t want black stain on your white trainers!!!)

We have a small kitchen area available to make hot drinks and cold drinks.

We have two toilets in the workshop, one being a disabled toilet. The workshop is also wheelchair friendly.

In the workshop we have a small kitchen area where tea, coffee & juice is available.

You are welcome to bring any of your own food & drinks for your workshop time, please also bring any cups/ plates you will need.

Alcohol – legal age providing you are welcome to bring your own alcoholic drinks to be enjoyed responsibly during your time in the workshop. This will be monitored by staff throughout your workshop experience to ensure health and safety standards are maintained.
